About

Marilyn grew up in a small town in eastern Arizona with a dream to become a pilot.  After graduating high school, she moved to Prescott, AZ to attend Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University. She, like many students, struggled with the learning process during her flight training.  In 2004 she completed her BS Degree in Aerospace Studies with Minors in Aeronautical Science, Aviation Safety and Aviation Weather.

Marilyn completed her Private Pilot Certificate in February of 2004 and followed with all certificates and ratings through her Multi-Engine Instructor Certificate by May of 2004.  Marilyn was not satisfied with her level of knowledge as a flight instructor and pursued guidance from a mentor with 30 years of instructional experience.

In 2007, Marilyn became a full time instructor at a small flight school in Prescott, AZ  where she instructed until 2013. Marilyn's passion for giving quality flight instruction allowed her to become an Assistant Chief and then Chief Instructor at her Part 141 School.

Marilyn earned her designation as a FAA Pilot Examiner in 2013. Her goal was to give the highest quality exam experience to each applicant and help them to reduce the checkride anxiety that she struggled with throughout her training. While she found value in in her role as an examiner, many aspects became too time consuming to juggle between her primary employment and her loved ones. She made the difficult decision to step back from her designation in 2023 with plans to resume part time instruction.

In 2015, Marilyn joined SkyWest Airlines as a First Officer to further expand on her experience and education. She continued her journey to United Airlines in 2018. Marilyn enjoys working in the complex airline environment as much as spending a day with an applicant or student in a small general aviation airplane.
